The current approach you hear about involves handing hundreds of billions over to those who engineered the economic failure. Yet listen to the reasons given that we, the taxpayers should cover the tab.
We keep hearing about how the flow of capitol to small businesses will ruin the economy. What about funding the Small Business Administration to provide loans to small businesses that need capitol? This would avoid giving the money to the geniuses on wall street that invented esoteric financial instruments of dubious value. The large companies have many more options to aquire capitol. And now that the government owns fanny and freddy, if money is needed for homes it could go directly there.
The failure of the "big boys" will have a bad ripple effect, but let's face it, these are the people that pushed for no regulation, got it and failed. No one bails out the thousands of failed small businesses that create most of the new jobs in this country, so it makes no sense to give large Wall Street firms a ton of money that they will burn through and solve nothing.
Small businesses that invest in a green economy is the smartest place for us to invest at this point, because we need jobs, and we need clean energy. Let's get both and get this done right.
