As this piece entitled "Karl Rove on Election Eve" By Hugh Hewitt reminds us, on the eve of the 2006 November elections Karl Rove remained upbeat despite overwhelming evidence that a Democrat wave was about to wipe out Republican majorities in both the House and Senate.
More after the fold...
Rove was quoted as saying in part:
I feel good about the Senate, and the House is a race by race, district by district battle, that when you add it up, I see us with a majority.
As it turns out of course, Rove was wrong. The MSM quickly ran pieces to explain how in the world this bloated political genius could have been so wrong. In the Nov. 20, 2006 issue of Newsweek for example, appeared this story which concluded that "Rove blames complacent candidates for much of the GOP's defeat."
But does this explanation really make sense in light of new insight and facts as to what was going on inside the Bush White House? At this point, a more logical explanation as to Rove’s optimism is that he was convinced that close elections could be flipped Republican by "prosecuting voter fraud," a codeword for election rigging and the corruption of the U.S. Justice Department, so that bogus charges could be brought against Democrats for electoral advantage.
If the media is actually waking from it’s long slumber, it would be refreshing to see some more light shed on this aspect of the Bush Crime Family’s dealings. If you have some good sources to shed more light on this, please post away! We are the new news media after all, since the MSM seems to be asleep at the wheel!
